Origin Of Mind: The Tetra Theory of Mind Design (OOM) presents an original theory of how the brain and mind interact, with consciousness participating actively in the process.

OOM-Tetra challenges the location-based model of the brain as a biological digital computer. In its place, it proposes a dynamic system through which thoughts, memories and intentions are constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed as we go about our lives.

For more than two millennia, philosophers and scientists have wrestled with a fundamental question: how do the brain and mind interact, and what role does consciousness play?
Tetra approaches this question through a speculative, metaphor-based macro-level model called Tetra’s Stadium. This model proposes the interacting mechanisms through which meaningful human cognition is constructed, with the conscious person participating in that construction.
The book develops its ideas progressively, from an accessible introduction to the problem of mind through to the proposed system and its implications. Read the chapters in the order presented: understanding the earlier groundwork is essential to understanding the later concepts.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr D. Anthony Harvey is an independent psychologist. His research has included dementia, autism, errorless learning in cognitive rehabilitation following stroke, output monitoring and age effects in prospective memory.
Over nearly 12 years, he completed a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Cognitive Science, an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology and a PhD in Psychology.
Before entering higher education, he worked as a motor mechanic and specialised in automatic transmission technology in London.
Tetra Theory of Mind Design developed over more than three decades of study and investigation into how the brain and mind work together.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Tetra Theory - Origin Of Mind is an independent project inviting serious examination of a new account of brain-mind interaction.
CONSTRUCT NOT STORE concerns how human cognition is produced: meaningful thoughts are constructed when needed, deconstructed when no longer required and may later be reconstructed as memories or intentions.
OOM-Tetra develops testable hypotheses and considers their relationship to existing scientific findings. Its proposals extend across philosophy of mind, macro-neuroscience and cognitive science, with later chapters examining human intelligence, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, autism/ASD, and normal and abnormal cognition.
The aim is to encourage critical engagement, scientific investigation and new thinking about the mechanisms underpinning human thought and behaviour.
